The Ministry of Agriculture published in the Official Gazette Decree No. 152 dated April 19, 2023, called "Agrisolar Park," which promotes interventions for the installation of photovoltaic systems on buildings for productive use in the agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial sectors. This decree is an integral part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP), Mission 2, Component 1, Investment 2.2, and will benefit from 1,500 million euros in funding.

The main objective of the "Agrisolar Park" decree is to incentivize the adoption of photovoltaic systems on agricultural buildings, thus contributing to the transition to cleaner energy.

Importantly, the decree also received approval at the European level, complying with state aid rules. Following this approval, the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) started the funding phase for the beneficiaries of the proposals admitted to the first call for proposals of the "Agrisolar Park" program.

The decree stipulates that eligible interventions to obtain benefits must involve the installation of photovoltaic systems with a peak power of between 6 kWp and 1,000 kWp.

One or more of the following upgrades may be carried out for the purpose of improving the energy efficiency of facilities:

(a) Removal and disposal of asbestos (and, where applicable, asbestos cement) from roofs;

b) Implementation of thermal insulation of roofs: the technical report of the licensed professional should describe and justify the choice of the degree of insulation provided due to the specific production uses of the building;

(c) Implementation of an aeration system related to the replacement of the roof (air gap): the professional's report should give an account of the aeration methods envisaged due to the productive use of the building; in any case, the aeration system should be implemented by means of a ventilated roof and air evacuation chimneys.

With this new decree, it aims to promote the use of renewable energy in the agricultural sector, enabling farms to become more energy sustainable and contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions. This is an important opportunity for the agricultural sector to adopt innovative energy solutions and promote sustainable development.
